an anxious person can become anxious just by knowing they have anxiety. You cant help but wonder when it will happen next. What works for me (at least with the big ones) is to recognize my breathing. its a big warning. if you can reirect your brain/thoughts the second you realize your attacking…then with time and hard work the degree and frequency will lessen. first off, allow and accept urself to have anxiety. that nips the fear of “when;s next time” Encourage yourself all the way through, if you start panicking, sit down, redirect and take small steps to get through the situation. it will happen. i used to have them multiple times a day!

Valium seems a very drastic answer if those are the only symptoms you’re presenting for an Anxiety Disorder. Go back and speak to a different doc. Valium have huge side effects and you need to weigh up the pros and cons.

I think I have some form of anxiety disorder. I always over analyze the situation, worry too much, am paranoid people don’t like me, think too much, and imagine the worst possible outcome from a situation.
These things have ruined lots of things for me. I think it may be some sort of anxiety disorder (which my dad has, so it runs in the family) and I don’t want to deal with it any longer.

You sound like a first born to me! However, if you can’t deal with these issues you could talk to your doctor. Just know that they will put you on some sort of anti depressant or anxiety medication. I feel the same way as you, but as I have gotten older (I am now 28), I have been able worry a little less and accept the fact that some people may not like me. I still think that the outcome of situations are going to be the worst thing that can happen. I use it to my advantage now. Since I always think something is going to be horrific, I always find out that “it wasn’t that bad.” For example, giving birth and having surgery terrified me, but both things “weren’t that bad.”
My guess is that you are probably a young adult. You will grow in confidence with age. My advice is to not give up. Keep challenging yourself and prove yourself wrong. You are a unique human being who has a voice worthy of being heard. Most likely, you will deal with these insecurities your whole life, BUT if you keep pressing forward it will get easier. Chin up, my fellow worrier! We shall conquer the world one baby step at a time.
